A major center of forest activities in Pathanamthitta District.It is about 11 kms from the district headquarters . Konni elephant Kraal used for training wild elephants is the major attraction. Pampa, on way to Sabarimala temple, Kochu pampa,are also tourist destination endowed with the sylvan beauty. An agricultural region, Konni is rich in cash crops like rubber, pepper, coffee, ginger etc. Konni is also known for its elephantrides and the Anakoodu where elephants are tamed and trained for work.
Konni is the gate-way to the forest bordering the district. In the past, wild elephants caught from the forests were brought here and put in wooden cages known as 'Aanakoodu' to be tamed and trained for work.
Konni offers something unusual to visitors. The place is synonymous with 'aanakoodu' or the elephant cage. The main attraction here is the huge wooden cages where wild elephants are put in and trained for various purposes. One can often find herds of elephants roaming about in the nearby forest area.
