Sylvania Tourist Enclave is located close to the Vembanadu Lake, The biggest natural lake In South India. The lake is a confluence of rivers like Achankovil, Manimala, Pampa and Meenachil. Cozy cottages are built amidst the majestic trees like nutmeg, cloves, Coconut trees, Jack trees, bread fruit trees, Arecanut, Cocoa etc. well known spices of ‘Malabar’ give out their aromatic odour which lingers on the air at Sylvania.
The cottages are thatched with braided coconut palm leaves to obtain a natural cooling effect. The interior is uniquely fashioned. As the walls of the cottages are built with palm tree planks, the rooms are never hot. The salubrious environs and the solitude of Sylvania are things to be experienced.

Bird sanctuary is just 1 Km. Away. ‘Pathiramanal’ (means midnight sand) is less than 5 Kms. Away. Only 10 Kms. to the Thanneermukkam salt-water barrier. ‘R’ Block is about 10 Kms. to the south. The venue of the well known ‘Nehru Trophy’ boat race and Alappuzha, the Venice of the East are 15 Kms. from here.
